Written Reflection

This semester was really fun for me and I really enjoyed learning about the aspects of photography and also learning how to use photoshop.  I worked hard on using different angles and subjects in my photography to see what I liked the best.  Changing the scenery of the pictures was one of my favorite parts of this class.  During class i use my time wisely and I always get my work done and try to go above and beyond to get extra credit on all assignments.  I also try to be attentive during class for the photoshop tutorials.  I try to make all the photos I take look good while also completing the task of the assignment while using my surroundings to benefit the picture that I am taking.

Photoshop Poster

4 Portraits

Formal Portrait
It uses the rule of thirds because Kolton and I are on the two vertical lines
Uses symmetrical balance
This is my favorite because it is a good photo and the lighting makes it look really cool

Candid Portrait
Uses the rule of thirds because Megan is on the right hand third
Asymmetrical Balance

Candid Portrait
Does not use the rule of thirds because Kolton is in the center of the photo
Asymmetrical Balance
Informal Portrait
It uses the rule of thirds because Patrick and I are on the two vertical lines
Uses symmetrical balance

We used a selfie stick and also a CD case and outlined a circle using glue.  The selfie stick was used for images 3 and 5 and the CD case was used for image 4.

My favorite shot is the one of Jennie and me because I like the angle that it was taken at.

Portrait with Balance Questions

1. The most effective was asymmetrical balance because I thought that it made the pictures look more interesting.
2. The least effective was symmetrical balance because it made the pictures look boring and it was also the hardest to take.

Light Painting Lab Questions

1. The lower the f stop, the larger the opening is which allows more light to enter the camera.
2. The higher the f stop, the smaller the opening is which allows less light to enter the camera.
3. The shorter the exposure the less time the light is able to be seen in the image (basically a snapshot of an image)
4. The longer the exposure the more time light is able to be seen in the image (works well for this lab in particular)
5. What worked well for us was a low f stop and a longer exposure so we could capture the light from our phones and glowsticks.

The President's Photographer

1. Pete Souza practices historical archiving photography.
2.  Lyndon B. Johnson was the first president to have a photographer
3.  Nixon kicked his photographer out.
4. The President's photographer's office used to be a barber shop.
5. Most of the photographer's photographs are displayed in the West Wing of the White House
6. The photographer's day is typically as long as that of the President, which varies, be he is always up early in the morning to check the President's schedule.
7. Pete cannot delete photos because it is illegal since they are a part of the national archive.
8. I think it would be interesting, however I think it would be a little boring having to photograph everything the President does so I wouldn't want to do it.
